The Poetic Legacy

As I met with my stalwart Nocturne collaborators, Stephanie Domet and Sue Goyette, over final reporting to the festival, I learned that Sue has continued to receive communications from some of the hived. This one takes the prize, I think, typed and tucked into charming envelope.

Hive indeed. Several hundred curious visitors stopped in, and many of them participated! Here were some of my tweeted observations on the night:

Pity I didn’t capture the boom boxer half of this duo. Got around to her just as they were finishing.

It Had Better Not Be A Dark And Stormy Night

This year I team up with the merry Sue Goyette and Steph Domet on interactive installation It Was A Dark and Stormy Night: a kind of writing hive in the Company House. Visitors will find six “stations” that follow the evolution of writing: from the private creative process to the public stage reading. I’ll be the Waxing Eloquent station, actually not an interactive station per se, unless you count hanging out with me and distracting me from the mix, a sonic backdrop to the installation activities. It’s narrative sound collage: non‐musical vocal elements, from spoken word recordings to children’s stories to radio broadcasts paired with a range of musical ambience. It’ll be your soundtrack to gettin yr writey on, on our old school projectors and typewriters and such, with props and enigmatic advice and much much more.

The CoHo is 2202 Gottingen St. Nocturne is Saturday, October 15, 6pm - midnight.
